Highway 99 and 16th avenue interchange

TYBO Contracting was Selected by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure to construct the new over pass at 16th ave and HWY 99 in Surrey. The 8.5 million dollar project consisted of the removal of an existing 2 lane bridge and replacement with a six lane structure complete with pedestrian and bicycle paths. In addition Tybo completed all underground utilities including the installation of a 2.4m x 3m box culvert which was required to relocate a fish bearing stream that runs through the project.

This project had stringent deadlines and required TYBO to manage the needs of Stakeholders including the City of Surrey, Department of Fisheries & Oceans, BC Hydro, Telus and Fortis Gas. Construction started in mid-April 2013 and despite numerous challenges the project was completed and opened up for traffic in mid-August 2013, two weeks ahead of the August 30thdeadline.

Completing the construction of this overpass in four months was an unprecedented achievement and earned TYBO Contracting a nomination for Contractor of the year in 2013 as selected by the BC Road Builders Association and The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
