TYBO has been awarded the HWY 13 widening project.

The Highway 13 corridor serves a North-South route between Highway 1 and the Aldergrove/Lynden border crossing in Langley, B.C. South of the border, Highway 13 becomes Route 539 and continues south to Bellingham, Washington. This corridor is critical to provide access to the busy Aldergrove/Lynden crossing.

The Governments of Canada and British Columbia have committed $25.5 million to widen a key portion of Highway 13 from two lanes to five lanes, building more capacity for cross border traffic at the Aldergrove/Lynden border crossing.

The upgrades will span Highway 13 from 8th Avenue to 0 Avenue. Going southbound, the highway will be widened from one to three lanes, to accommodate a separate NEXUS and commercial truck lane. Going northbound, the highway will be widened from one to two lanes to accommodate a new truck climbing lane. In addition, a new east-west connection will be built at 3B Avenue.

The upgrades will help to move cross border traffic more efficiently, and the project will extend safety benefits to the local road networks too. These improvements support border enhancements that the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has implemented at the Aldergrove/Lynden border crossing.
